About the Course:

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy affects up to 50% of older type 2 diabetic patients. Whereas some patients may have extremely painful symptoms, others with a more marked neuropathic deficit may be asymptomatic. Diagnosis requires careful examination of the lower limbs. Management involves establishing that the neuropathy is caused by diabetes instead of more sinister causes and aiming for optimal glycemic control. Medications, usually tricyclic drugs or anticonvulsant agents, may be required. Patients with peripheral neuropathy must be considered at risk of insensate foot ulceration and must receive preventive education and podiatric care.

About the Course:

Dr. Masood Jawaid is a General and Laparoscopic Surgeon as well as Medical Educationist who has served as Assistant Professor Surgery and Incharge e-Learning at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) – Pakistan until, 2014. He is Associate Editor  of  Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences and Member of Health RAB. He is currently working at PharmEvo (pvt) ltd as Director Medical Affairs. To date, he has more than 80 scientific papers to his credit.

His areas of interest include clinical and educational research, online education and Cognitive Load Theory (CLT). He is credited for initiating a 6 week eLearning Research Module for undergraduate students at DUHS and developing blended curriculum in Surgical Clinical education. Currently he is engaged in developing numerous online courses.
